For now, this is what the blog section is, an experiment.

It is a feature of this platform, but the question is, will it be a thing used often, or another thing in the way  For now, should you notice it here, pay no attention to the man behind the curtain   

Seriously tho, I will see if it worth it, I will post some content, and decide whether it should be open for all to post or not.

We also have a blogger as you can see to the right in the menu, not sure how the best way to utilize that is yet. Any ideas from the house are welcome.

By the way, this blog section can be seen by all, both public and members, only members can reply, but they can not start new threads at this time. Keeping that in mind should this section be public, or members only?

Hi, I joined joined up here, and voted private.

My question is tho, can't there be both, like a public, and a private blog.. 
One could be for members to throw creative ides and stuff around, and the public one can be anything. I guess you would have to be careful what you post there, share in public..

then again, I also kind of agree, why do you need it here, if there is a wordpress blog, plus don't forums take care of a lot of what a blog could do, maybe better.

Yes I suppose there could be 2, in fact I know they can, but I am still not sure if they will get used, by me or by members..... I think the real purpose would be if it actually has viral qualities, meaning is the public blog getting any attention from search engines etc... if not, it might just be cumbersome... but I will leave it up for now, and even try to use it, and see if anyone else comes along and votes or comments.

I agree with Penny (hi Penny!) it would be nice to have a private area and a public area.

It could be done... but can you give me an example of how you for instance think each one could or should be used...

Example, on a public blog here, what would you for instance post to it...

and in the same respect, what would you post using the private one... either of you,

I was thinking maybe a private area for teachers, moderators, etc. and then everything else public. That way there is a private area where we can ask each other questions that have to do with managing our courses (or sharing ideas between teachers). The general areas of the forum I think should be public so that we attract more new students to follow our courses.

What if you just create 1 private area for now, and then see how it's being used by members, and you can add more private ones as needed, in the future.

You as a moderator, already have that area in the very last forum..

If for some reason you can't see t, let me know.

I can create one also for instructor in the same area, and only make that available to those folks. I already have a role called Media Team (not sure what it would be used for yet) I can always create what is needed, or remove or move other things.

Yes, in the meantime I saw the private area. 

ok, you should be able to see the new forum (because you are a moderator) and it can only be seen by members who have the role (no one does yet) of Media Team

There are a few private areas on the site btw, as well as public, some can be seen but not replied to by the public, (aq couple are open to public to ask questions in) 

and the ones below the video/media section are all private, and only for members

While I love sharing with the open public, if we have too much info out front, as far as classes etc go, why would anyone join on the inside, if you see my point. We do want them to join and participate, especially since we have a safe enviroment on the inside (from spammers, and all that crazy stuff)

It would be good I think, as you get your class plans together for here, that you set aside some key points, and some basic info to give folks an idea what they can except as the class progresses..
